I've got hundreds of business cards that for one reason or another are out of date. I don't want to use them as notepads since they have my name and contact info on them. I use them to mix epoxy but that's not recommended and how much epoxy do I need? They are a very convienent size, but for what?

In a science project, we need to figure out how to clean contaminated wells. We figured (through labs) that the creek was spreading the contamination. Do you know of plants that have ALL (or at least some) of these traits:
-Do well in dry areas (creek) that sometimes flood
-Help clean the water (cat tails and others do that)
-Are native to Illinois
If you know, that'd be great! Please don't try and guess random plants. :)

Recently I have moved into an apartment with a garbage disposal, I've never had one before. Just curious what types of things I shouldn't be putting in to it? Thanks!

I live on a farm where there are quite a few tree tops left overs from a logging operation that the previous owner did. What type of wood chipper would I need to make shavings? We have horses and thought it would be a great cost saving idea since shavings are so high? Is it feasiable?

It wasn't coming out of the ground when I bought the house four years ago, and it started to show little by little the past year and a half, and now it's showing a lot above ground but still encased in the soil alongside my sidewalk. What can I do to get it back down into the ground? Who would I call about it? Will it cost a bit or should I just ignore it, try to put grass patches overtop of it? It's pretty ugly and I don't know how it could have come up from the ground. It seems it's only in my yard and no one elses.

I want to remove really ugly ceramic tiles from my bathroom walls. I want to do this without destroying the plaster wall underneath. What's the best way to take them off? Is this going to be a "big" job? Thanks in advance!!

The former owners also shortened the chimney and it is filled with ductwork. Having a working fireplace would really help heat the house in the winter. Any suggestions?

For those of you who live in an apartment complex and are non-smokers you can relate to my frustration. I'm very sensitive to the smell of smoke (I get headaches and nausea). Even my children notice the smell. The smell of smoke is coming from the hallway, and through the vents making my apartment have that stale smoke smell. Any tips on how to get rid of it? I have a Febreez Scent Stories pointed at the front door but that doesn't seem to be working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

When I was very young, there was a beautiful blue jay nesting in a small bush. It had a lovely nest and laid 3 perfect eggs. Me and my sister, plus my grandma, would walk to the bush every day and check on the eggs. They hatched wonderfully and we watched them every day grow up, it was so beautiful! Sadly, the mother abandoned the nest. Now 7 years later the nest is still abandoned and has deteriorated, still no little birdies.

How can I encourage new birds to come to my yard (but not use that old nest?) It is still extremely cold where I live (plus several feet of snow), but a few days ago I saw some beautiful finches on a tree. I left some soft yarn outside if they were making a nest, but it hasn't been touched, and the small breadcrumbs are still there too. Is it just the wrong season?

What can I do to encourage animals and birds to my yard? I live in the midwest by the way. And do I HAVE to buy a bird feeder? Or can I use seeds or bread?

I was walking in the woods the other day and found a cedar snag. The roots had dried up and it looks cool. The outside of it is dried up and does not look very good but the inside still looks like cedar. How can I make a good looking walking stick out of it. get rid of the old dead stuff and get to the nice piece of the wood?

With a the recent problems of vegtables being recalled because of E. Coli contamination is there any way to help prevent my vegtables from being contaminated too? I know that E. Coli is a bacteria naturaly found in the digestive trac of animals. Since a lot of people use munure aren't they at risk of an E. Coli contamination in thier gardens? Also E. Coli can be present in the water supply people are using to water their plants. Is the only way to know for sure to have my soil and water tested? So far the only recommendation I've found is to throughly wash vegetables before consumtion.
