I have an oil boiler type furnace with a Beckett burner, dont use it to heat water though
.. Twice so far this year, after I get an oil delivery, (I let it get down to 1/4 tank then put in 100 gallons) or like today, when it gets real cold out, I have to start the furnace with the reset button.. So far today furnace is running after the first reset.. Temp in the house is going up slower than usual, but pipes in cellar are hot..
I need to find out what is causing this as we are in for a real cold night, and do not want my pipes to freeze..

I use a blower to keep dryer lint, dust, dirt and cat fur away from furnace so sensor stays cleaner and other stuff doesnt clog..Cat does sleep on top of furnace when its really cold though, he's there for mice..
Could it be sludge? We replaced the oil line from tank to furnace last year, and have the furnace cleaned yearly.. I dont think we did the nozzle yet this year though..

My husband and I are flipping houses and are tired of the millions of little paint samples that we manage to collect. We are looking for the paint fan or deck (think I've heard it called that) and have no idea where to get one. We have been online and not having any luck with the major paint dealers. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to install a new front door and frame this weekend with my dad's help (he's a licensed contractor). I was wondering how long this process usually takes so I can plan our day appropriately.

Also, did you run into any unforseen problems or have to make a trip back to the hardware store?

I live in a rural area on an acre of land and noticed this winter I cannot walk anywhere outside or around my house, without tracking in stickers and goat heads.

I am planning a BBQ birthday party end of April and cannot have my yard like this as I don't want these stickers tracked into the house any longer. Thank you

My brand new clothes dryer is not working properly, Im sure there is nothing wrong with the dryer because this is the second one we have bought in 2 months. The dryer will dry clothes but it usually takes 3 cycles for a large load of colored clothes and at least 2 cycles for a small load of white clothes. Could it be hooked up wrong? What other problems could cause this problem besides hook up and the heating element because I dont think thats it? Please help!!!!

Our bathroom has a large window over the whirlpool tub.It overlooks our backyard and the woods beyond. In the summer, when the foliage is in,we have complete privacy. However,in the winter,we feel a little "naked".Does anyone know of a product that I can use to "glaze" the glass to make it opaque?

It keeps going up the willow tree collecting sticks in a little pile in the tree. Could it be building a dray? It's not building anything just making a pile. Do you think it's collecting them to build it somewhere else? and ISN'T IT EXCITING.

I am planning to plant a garden in the shady area around the back of my house which will include primrose and lily of the valley. I also wanted to use some ground coverings and was looking at Cyclamen and Tradescantia. Can I plant both of these (since they bloom at different times) or will one choke the other one out? And if I have to chose, which is more managable - in other words, more containable?

Hi,

we are thinking about getting a new carpet for our bedroom as the current one is over 10yrs old and as we have 3 cats and 2 dogs you can imagin ehow much air is stuck in it.

Looking at the price of underlay it is passible to get a carpet cheaper than underlay. Underlay for the room would cost £80 but i can get a cheap carpet for £36.

my question is can i use the cheap carpet as underlay instead of underlay? i figure as it is a bedroom and not walked on all that often it shouldn't really make much difference.

The damp has only recently become visible, it is a line about 20cm thick across the whole side of the wall. Could it be poor ventilation causing this or more likely a bigger problem?

its all good and well banning smoking in enclosed public places but the thing is it sends smokers outside to smoke.
theres an office i pass everyday and the doorway absolutely stinks of stale tobacco smoke. i can smell it from about 10 yards away
i hate the smell of smoke and wish people would'nt smoke outdoors.
dont u think it would be better to have smoking rooms without windows for people who want to smoke to go in.
its awful being behind someone who lights up.
smokers stink dont they smell it themselves

Just moved into a property where the former occupiers left behind a condensing tumble dryer. It would appear there was no ventilation for it. Does that mean one can use a condensing tumble dryer without venting it?
