Bulbs burn out because they are defective, because they overheat, or because the voltage is too high. Take a bulb that has been performing OK somewhere else in the house and put it the fixture. If it burns out, it is not a bulb problem. If the fixture is rated for a low wattage and the bulbs you are using are high wattage, they could be overheating. This is especially true if air movement around the bulb is severely restricted. Otherwise the voltage may be too high, or you are buying bulbs rated for the wrong voltage.
