its all good and well banning smoking in enclosed public places but the thing is it sends smokers outside to smoke.
theres an office i pass everyday and the doorway absolutely stinks of stale tobacco smoke. i can smell it from about 10 yards away
i hate the smell of smoke and wish people would'nt smoke outdoors.
dont u think it would be better to have smoking rooms without windows for people who want to smoke to go in.
its awful being behind someone who lights up.
smokers stink dont they smell it themselves

No, tell us how you really feel about smokers and smoking! :)

I'm a smoker, and you're right, smokers should be considerate of people who don't. In many cities in the U.S. there are mandates that people who smoke less than 10-15 feet away from the entryway of a public building can be fined. I ALWAYS go around to the other side of the building that has less foot traffic. Unfortunately, some people are too lazy or self-centered to do this.

On the flip side, in other countries, they have no smoking bans at all. I taught in Japanese schools and the teachers would still be able to smoke in the teachers' room. Yes, I could smell it, even though at the time I smoked 3 packs a day.

The same argument can be used (to a point) against people who wear too much perfume/cologne. We have several of these kinds of offenders at my current workplace.

My pet peeve about fellow smokers is the ones who smoke while in a car and then throw the butt out the window. Tsk tsk.

In defence of smokers (i was a smoker for many years)
smoking does affect your sense of smell,
After being hospitalised and bed ridden for a week while i was a smoker i asked to be wheeled out to a smoking area just to get some fresh air and sunshine and that smoking area stunk of smoke even the plants smelt of it, i had smoked in that area prior to being admitted and never noticed the smell,
i also think with todays technology it wouldn't be so hard to have smoking rooms with good extraction fans and ventillation

It is a disgusting problem. They have merely impositioned smokers and forced them outside, however they're in the public face now. I am always disgraced when I come into my office building to wade through 200 butts all over the sidewalk.
I agree with you, make a room inside the building, with seperate ventilation and allow smokers to go there. They're smokers so they'll be dead soon anyway, might as well give them some comfort while they commit suicide.

I agree. I also find that they ( the smokers)are reluctant to move for you when you try to get into the building. I also find that walking along the high street behind someone who smokes is awful.
