Restoring silver.....?

How to you restore the appearence of silver plate using tinfoil and liquid of some sort?

Get a pan of water (best to use plastic or glass)
Lay the tin foil in the bottom
Fill with warm water - leave about 1 inch from the edge of the pan.
Add 1 tbl sea salt*
Add 1 Tbl POWDERED Calgon Water Softener*

*Your water may be different. Experiment with different measures of this, usually no more than 2 TBL of either.

Dunk the silver into the water so that it touches the tin foil. Wait a few seconds. Remove and dry.
