My brand new clothes dryer is not working properly, Im sure there is nothing wrong with the dryer because this is the second one we have bought in 2 months. The dryer will dry clothes but it usually takes 3 cycles for a large load of colored clothes and at least 2 cycles for a small load of white clothes. Could it be hooked up wrong? What other problems could cause this problem besides hook up and the heating element because I dont think thats it? Please help!!!!

Good Day
Your dryer will turn and produce little heat if one of your fuses is blow en. That's if you have fuses. It takes 220 volts to run a dryer.

it only take 110 v to run a dryer but 220 for the element to run. It is very common for the dryer to be hooked up to 2 breakers and one of them is not flipped fully. I would try turning the breakers to the dryer off and back on. There could also be a problem in the ventalation system. If there is a blockage of some sort the dryer wont fully heat. If it is a new dryer it is highly unlikely that it is the element. I would try both of these. the vent could be blocked (likely) somewhere between the end of the vent hose and where ever it comes out of the house.

hi,
same thing happened to me, i discarded a perfectly good dryer, because it wasn't drying, or took forever. so, went into debt and got a new set, washer & dryer. new dryer did the same thing. i had it exchanged, they brought the new one out..same thing. finally, we looked into the electrical part. and sure enough, half of the circuit breaker to the dryer was half blown. the motor would work and spin the drum, but the breaker for the heating element was popped. that is definitely what is going on with your dryer. if you know someone handy with electrical skills, give them a call.
or you'll have to call an electrician. Ii hope this helped! :)

Has anyone checked the venting system? If plugged up it will not permit the dryer to work properly.
Many people use the cheap plastic vent products and they will plug easily. Try and use the better metal dryer vent system.
Check your fuses or circuit breakers. You need 220v to operate.

Before you call the electrician or repairman, check that the vent is not clogged. A clogged vent will prevent clothes from drying properly.

You should check the outlet vent and the thick hose leading to it. They can't be clogged. It sounds like you already checked each though so I have no idea.
