I'm talking about the beige, hard, roundish, very tiny seeds that dominate a typical birdseed mix. What plant do they come from? Back when we used to have a bird feeder, some of the birdseed that fell to the ground began to sprout, but my mom got rid of the seedlings long before I could tell what type of plants they'd develop into.

Also, would the sprouts be edible for small animals like rats or hamsters? Certain rodent food mixes include birdseed, and I've seen them eat it, so I'm assuming they could eat the sprouts too?

I have a several dress up porch/lawn geese, that I enjoy dressing up, to match the seasons and holidays( Yes, I garee I am a bit strange)
Does anyone know where I can get FREE patterns, to make outfits for my geese? I know where to buy outfits, but I think it would be more fun, and a lot cheaper to make my own.

Hello,

I'm replacing my old style washing machine drain hose (now hanging over the utility sink) with a Standpipe drain system. I understand that the building codes require me to use a 2" pipe and 2" solvent P-trap. The only problem is that my drain line is 1 1/2". So is it safe to go from 2" pipe to 2" P-trap to 1 1/2 drain line??

Thanks,
hrh

Can it be done? How to cultuvate?

For some reason my mother plants a large garden every year, and every year it is decimated by a large group of cute little bunny rabbits. Sometimes I think all she is doing is feeding the rabbits. I can't help her out because of my health, and she probably cannot errect fences. I do not like the idea of poisoning them (for one thing the neighbor has a bunch of purebred dogs and they are bound to eat one of the rabbits).

Traps seem silly, it would take all year to capture half of them if you caught one each night, and it would be too expensive to set up so many traps.

So I was thinking, what about a natural approach? Is there something natural we can spray that rabbits hate? A scarecrow approach of some kind? Or maybe a sound device? One of the problems with anything electrical is that the garden is at least 200 feet from the nearest outlet.

Keep in mind that she is not a very mobile woman. Also keep in mind that we are talking about a great many bunnies.

My uncle is selling us a house, but he says it'll be 2-3 months because he wants to paint it first. I know the summer time is the best time to paint, but wouldn't spring suffice.. or even doing it now?

*We're in WV. Our daily temp. has been about 50 degrees for the past week. A few weeks ago we had a few snow storms, but I think it's over now.
