sometimes, sometimes not, depends on how dirty my shoes are or how clean my floors are. Sometimes i am already barefoot so I really can't remove my shoes.

Yes. We do this because we have hardwood floors that dent very easily so if you have a rock in the sole of your tennis shoe or you're wearing high-heels, they're going to create a dent in the floor. I sometimes ask guests to remove their shoes and sometimes they just volunteer. Once we had an elderly couple visit who said they couldn't bend down to take off their shoes so I didn't make an issue of it.

It is kind of a pain but if you saw all the nasty stuff on the sidewalks around our neighborhood you think twice before you would want to track that into your home. I'm sure that the no-shoes policy helps keep our place at least a little bit cleaner.

Yes I always take my shoes off in my home. I have made it a rule that everyone needs to take their shoes off before coming in the house. My kids are very good about kicking their shoes off at the door and making sure that their friends remove their shoes. Whenever I go to someone elses house I always take my shoes off because that is what I expect in my home so I feel I should act that way in their home. There is always a pile of shoes at our door so it is very clear that we are socks only zone in our home.

My shoes come off after I enter my home and are left by the door. This is customary for Asian people to leave your shoes off after entering for which a home is like a temple and a temple is clean.

Yes, we were raised to take off our shoes. It keeps the
house cleaner. I was always amazed when I came to a home where I was told to leave them on, and at some homes I was glad to leave them on cuz the floors were so dirty. I prefer to take shoes OFF.

yes with new carpeting. All who visit we insisted they take shoes off during inclement weather, shake them off, there inside we have a thick carpet where they can set them, Not only reason, grand kids, step wherever, bring so much grass, doggie poo, other unsuitable crayons etc that can be hard to get out

A fews months ago, when I got new carpet in, I was quite fussy and wouldn't let anyone with shoes on it. Needlessless to say, that phase is over with.
