I have a continuing problem of mould around my windows in my home, i have to have the central heating on to dry clothes and i know this is part of the problem so i keep the windows open slightly to combat the condensation. Does anyone know how i can stop the mould from reappearing and not coming back without constantly cleaning them every other week??.

I chose the color for my kitchen/dining room in a deep red. The dining room wall was panelled, and the kitchen was sheetrock. The contractor chose a high gloss finish and it is too shiny and almost looks greasy. Is there any way to take the shine out of the paint? Can I paint over a coat of high gloss with the same color in another finish?

If I can't fix the shine problem easily, is there anything I can put in the room (i.e. decorations) to get some of the glare out of the room?

I just bought some almond firewood, split logs, 16" long. I chose it because the supplier said it was the longest-burning wood they sold, but it seems to burn with very little flame or heat. It just kind of smolders and disintigrates slowly. Do I need a softer wood to burn WITH it? Is there a trick to getting a good fire going using almond? Before this I was burning pine, oak and scrap lumber and they all burned better and gave more heat. I'd like a nice-looking fire, of course, but my main concern is home heating... I've just moved to a cabin in Mt. Baldy, CA. I'd appreciate advice both about this wood and about a good wood for home heating in the future. I didn't buy a lot (1/16 cord) so I wouldn't mind buying another wood to burn along with it if that'll do the trick and give me a nice fire.

My son bought a little pot with a planted lima bean seed or whatever in it, we been watering it a little bit each day cos those kinds of seeds only mostly need moist soil, just wondering how soon we should see something growing in the little pot?

I have seeds for Osmanthus fragrans,(sweet olive, tea olive) and I see that they can take a *very* long time to germinate... years, in fact. Has anyone done this? Is there something I can do to speed the process? I'm willing to experiment: boiling water, hydrogen peroxide, the old nick&soak, "smoke treatment," whatever. I can't find any information about this.
Thanks.

terro, ant traps,spray,pepper-nothing seems to work. It's like they go get their friends and family. They are the small ones and I think they made a home in the insulation. It's been freezing here-I shouldn't have them- yet they are there, every day. What are they after? I don't keep food in the bathroom. They are driving me crazy!

The windows are cold and I can feel cold air coming in through tiny gaps around the windows. Great stuff would probably be difficult to squish into such small gaps. What are my other options? These are the white double pane windows that flip in for cleaning.
