Its a work lamp, has two daylight bulbs that have printed on them '18 w /54' , If i replace them, can i use any 18 w flourescent tube of the same wattage?

I have two bulbs that say18w Activia 172 , just want to check its ok to put them in.

should be fine. as long as the ends of the bulb will mate to your fixture. you can put any wattage bulb in that you want. if you need more light I would suggest going with a 32W bulb. but, what you have will work fine.

Yes any 18 watt lamp of the same type will work, you cannot increase the lamp wattage as it is dependent on the control gear. The lamps you have may be called ActiViva and are a recent development by Philips lighting to combat SAD.

When using the floucesent tubes as light sabers do not hit anything as they explode with minimal contact.

Sorry do not know anything about electrics but I am sure you will have fun pretending to be luke skywalker.
