renting a home is different from renting an apartment. considering you will be residing in the home chances are you are responsible for the water bill, if the landlord includes the water chances are the rent will be raised enough for him to cover that bill and a little more. Same with garbage. sewage and water are usually billed together.

In Ohio a landlord is required to provide trash service for dwellings of 4 or more units, I do not pay for trash for any of my units. In the duplexes/triplexes I own if the water service is not seperated for each unit, I pay for the water but the rent reflects this as well.

your state laws may be different but I can say with some degree of certainty that you will or would be required to pay for these services unless you work something out with the landlord. but I think it would be cheaper to just get it in your own name.

This varies from community to community, and even within the communities.

Check your LEASE, or RENTAL AGREEMENT to see who is responsible for these things.

I have lived in apartments, or rental homes, where these were all included in the rent... I have also lived in apartments and rental homes, where I paid for everything. On occasion, I had both situations in the same town, heheheh.

Some places use these 'all inclusive' services as part of their drawing power, or appeal. But not all do. Bottom line, check your lease.

If you are LOOKING at a home, and these items are not included in the lease/rental agreement... you CAN ask that they be included... but expect to pay more in rent, hehehe.

Good Luck :)

Possibly. These are some of the main items that should be addressed on a signed rental agreement. Garbage and sewer services are normally billed annually to the home owner like real estate tax.

The garbage, yes, but the water goes in the property owner's name. The sewage, I'm not sure about. You may still have to pay for the water, but it isn't in your name.

No---anybody can go to City Hall (water works)and sign up for this using their own I.D.,and put down the required deposit. Just keep up your payments and don"t mess up,or the account will come back on them. It"s no big thing to do this.
