I just bought a full-length mirror for my dorm room but we can't put nails into the walls so I was thinking about putting it on a wall or on the back of my door...will double-sided tape be enough? How should I hang it up? Thanks!!

I fried my raw couscous a little too long and the burner was a little too hot and I forgot to stir. Now I have charcoal black dots all over the bottom. I don't want to use a scouring pad as I'll scratch it up. Are there any "non-invasive" methods to get my pot sparkling clean again?

Is there any tack strip on stairs? Does tack strip go on each side of the stairs all the way down and on the treads themselves towards where your toes land when you walk? Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all I am having a real problem with vampires. I have tried every trick in the book including hanging of a bushel of garlic, the 3X5 Cross etc etc. I am just so scared they are taking over my neighboorhood. I have since bought a 9MM for protection but I am just so scared to leave the house these days. I am a recluse in my own neighboorhood. Does anyone know of any spells or anything and I mean anything that will get this vampires out of my neigboorhood?

I want to paint kitchen but I'm not sure of the new color trends. The tile floor is white as well as the cabinets. The counter tops are a slate blue/grey. Right now the wall color is light yellow.

I am trying to install a new thermostat but I want to make sure that I am doing this correctly. Does the power or hot wire always come through on the right side of an electrical box?

I found a plant that a local restaurant wanted rid of (they left it outside by rubbish in the evening for bin men) that looked to be healthy, you could see new leaves coming out. I'm not quite sure what type of plant it is so I'll describe it and see if anyone can help on that subject first. It looks exactly like a Dracana except it's leaves don't have the the yellow coloured borders around it's edges. The stem of the plant (like a small palm tree) is the same as the Dracana. I kept in my living room at first but it's leaves started to curl around the edges and I thought it may be the central heating drying it out so I Moved to the kitchen which doesn't have a radiator in it. It didn't seem to be improving so I thought it might be an outdoor plant and put it on the balcony. This didn't help either as the leaves were drying out and dying. I now have it back in my kitchen but it's not improving. Please help as I'm really fond of my plants.

My new hardwood floors are separating in some areas throughout the house. There are now visible gaps approximately 2 - 3 mm. What is happening? Is there anything I can do?

Please keep in mind that it dropped to below 27 here for 7 days straight so it is an odd micro-climate.
Also, I have tried numerous native plants and have a hard time with most of them.

4 or so slates came off my roof in the gales and about 9 slates have been dislodged on the gable end of the roof. I have been quoted a fair sum from a roofer to do the work. I'm assuming my insurance quote will go up next year, if so by how much approx? The roofer will be charging £450 and my excess is £100. I pay approx £200 a year for my buildings insurance. Please advise if you know.

We bought a Whirlpool Gold Edition Side by Side Refrigerator, about 2 years ago. It has started this clicking noise in the back when the door is open. And the inside light in the Fridge part looks like it is shorting out. Both started at the same time. It does not make any noise while the door is shut. We have taped the door switch down and it will not make noise when it is open as long as the switch is pressed down. Both Fridge and Freezer are cooling properly. Any advice is appreciated.

I am wanting to remodel my living room and my theme is magnolias. I want burgundy carpet, with likea creme colored paint for the walls. How do you all think that will look together? Right now I have old hardwood flooring with white painted walls. And I am totally tired of white walls, they are hard to keep clean with a 7 and 8 year old kids. So anyone who can help please do so. Also I have a huge blue sectional couch in the room and my furniture is mostly cherry oak like my coffee table and end tables.

I am planning to have a 50's diner styled room, and it would be best if I could find a black and white checkered comforter, or duvet. I'm hoping to find a large checker board like comfortable, but so far, I've got nothing. Any good websites or stores that I should look at?

We have many landscape plants that show heavy frost damage from several long nights of frost. Just some of these include:

Several blue flowering potatoe bushes where all the leaves have wilted and turned brown.... (plants were about 3 or 4 years old)...

Several tall 20 ft "cherry" bushs that have all turned completely brown from frost. These are not real cherrys but just those little cherries that the birds eat. These are very tall thin plants. I don't know the real name for them.

Plus we have many bouganvalias that have also lost every leaf due to frost.

Finally my concern includes a beautiful 5 year old ficus tree that has really been the crown jewl of our landscaping. This tree has had every leaf turn completely brown and become wilted (except for just 3 leaves on the underside of the tree)...

Can I dare to hope that our landscaping and plants will revive themselves - somehow? What should I do to help them?

I greatly appreciate any help that you can provide

Sometimes when we light a fire in the wood burning fireplace, smoke comes into the rooms. My husband never smells it, but I can literally see it settling in the corners of the rooms fartherest from the fireplace. It doesn't do this everytime, but I am thinking mostly when it is raining outside and esp. if there is much wind. I was thinking that maybe the smoke has a tendency to come into the house when someone leaves a door cracked (although i can tell it doesn't come in from the outside.) I figure there must be a logical answer. Thanks for any ideas.
