I am wanting to remodel my living room and my theme is magnolias. I want burgundy carpet, with likea creme colored paint for the walls. How do you all think that will look together? Right now I have old hardwood flooring with white painted walls. And I am totally tired of white walls, they are hard to keep clean with a 7 and 8 year old kids. So anyone who can help please do so. Also I have a huge blue sectional couch in the room and my furniture is mostly cherry oak like my coffee table and end tables.

Stop! No pink carpet....really....you will regret it in time. Resale value will be nil. Put a neutral carpet on floor...beige or mocha. On the walls, how about putting a chair rail around the room painting both it and wall color below a cream or mocha color. Above the chair rail you can paint it a light shade of pink which would look nice with your magnolia pictures. Pink and brown/mocha look nice together and would be easy to change in the future. On the sofa, put throw pillows that have pink, brown, and blue (and other colors) in them. This will be easy to find with all the great floral fabrics or plaids that are available. Good luck.

I think you should get blue carpet to match your blue couch and a rich color on the wall to contrast the blue, like a warm yellow with white trim. The butter yellow and the white will mimick the colors of the magnolia stems you will use in pretty vases around the house. Forget the burgundy-that was a color best left in 1989.

Personally, I would go with a neutral carpet and paint the walls and/or ceiling a distinctive color. Why? I used to have a dark colored carpet throughout my house. The dark color showed EVERYTHING! For it to look nice and clean required vacuuming everyday and was a hassle. We had kids too, and they just made it harder to keep looking nice. Plus, the neutral color of carpet doesn't limit your wall or furniture colors and doesn't hem you in color wise. Good luck.

If you think the walls are hard to clean with kids around, wait till you get carpet!
I'd use an area carpet - something 9x10 feet or thereabouts, not wall-to-wall.
Otherwise, your color scheme sounds great.
