I have a ceiling fan at the top of my stairs on the upper level of my house. I am unsure for winter time whether the warm air should be drawn up by the fan or pushed down. I know in the summer the process is switched. Appreciate assistance

The heating ducts are all insulated. Should we also insulate the cold-air return? All the ducts pass through an unheated crawl space.

I wash my dish rags and dish towels seperatley from all other laundry. I wash them in hot water and use detergent and bleach. When they come out of the dryer they feel oily . Why is this happening? They didnt have any kind of oil on them when they went in the washer. My towels come out fine and all my other laundry does too. My washer is new and has never had anything oily washed in it.

I have a 3 bed, 3 reception room, 2 bath home, with small front/rear garden. I am so haphazard with housework, and I don't want to spend more than 2/3 hours on it a week. What do you advise? Before I disappear under the mess.

I am trying to solve co problem in the house. our gas range in the kitchen produces a 15 ppm amount of co after a couple of hours of cooking. Sometimes, co hits the 2nd floor. First, I thought the co detector was wrong. See my quetions.

1. Is it normal? Is there a dedicated vent for the gas range, other than fan hood?

2. Can this be fixed? Or, is it a known problem to everyone?

3. Is there such thing like flue attached to this gas range?

A neighbor has a wood burner for their only source of heat. They did last year as well. This year (but not last) I catch the scent of it at all hours of the day or night whether there is a wind or not. It stinks! Smells like something burning. They got reported earlier in the fall as not being properly vented but proved that they were. They were mad about it, too. They have small kids and besides the smell that stuffs ME up as it invades our home I am wondering if it's safe for them. Could they be doing something else wrong? Does it need to be cleaned? Help!
