One of the zone control valves in my heating system does not appear to be working. The thermostat is calling for heat, but no water is flowing. If the other thermostats call for heat, the valves seem to open as the pipes above the valve get hot from the water flowing through. The one that appears busted gets luke warm at best. All 4 valves in the system are fed from the same pipe, and the failed valve is the third in the series of 4 along the pipe (and #4 flows fine) so it doesn't appear to be something in the feeder pipe.

Is there anything I can do to try and fix the existing valve, can I replace the valve myself? Would replacing the valve top of the valve (the green/gold portion) possible fix the issue (maybe a problem with the operation of the piston? Is there anything I ahve to do before removing the valve top aside from removing power to the valve?

Hi, My neighbour has a ivy vine that has made it's way through my fence and ive had to pull out plants from my garden cause its overridden everything. Im in melbourne, australia, dont know what kind of ivy vine it is. Apparently it's been there for like 20 years and the people who used to live in my house have tried for years to get rid of it. I know it can be hard to get rid of but was hoping for some advice. Its just the vine and leaves over my fence, the roots of it are at the neighbours. Its coming in through in between the wooden palings of the fence. Can I put something on the fence to stop it. People have tried poisoning it without success and I dont want to use poisons as I have pets.

We have a gas furnace that only works sometimes.

The pilot light is lit. When the thermostat triggers the heater to come on, I do not hear the click that usually happens at this time, the flame does not ignite, and the fan never comes on.

It sometimes helps if I turn the thermostat off for about five minutes then turn it back on and turn up the temperature until it should click on. But when it's happening a lot, this only fixes it the first few times. After a few times, even this won't work. Then we just wait an hour or so and keep trying the above until it comes on.

just bought a house with 2 acres in WI, steep incline on part (more than 45 degrees and mud under the grass). Tried a little (lowest model of riding style mower) john deere and it kept wanting to tip and it would loose traction on the hills What to do????? Prior owners had very expensive lawn service. Is there a machine I can get to tackle this task?? Thanks, Catherine

I have a gas furnace with a pilot light, and my current thermostat is a mechanical one that has only one stage and it is located in the living room.
When all the vents of the heating system are open, the living room gets hot real fast and the heating stops while our bedrooms are still freezing.
When I close the living room vents and leave just the bedrooms' vents open the heating never stops, we get steamed and the living room is too cold.

I live in NY just outside the city. We get moderate snowfall(just not this year). I have a long driveway, and NEED it cleared. Do I need a 2 stage or will one stage handle it. And has anyone had experience with a pull start snow thrower, I can get a new 5.5hp 2 stage for $500 w/o electric start, or a 7HP one stage w/ elec start for $350. Any opinions?
