Unless it's leaking, there's really no reason to replace it. However, if you have to remove the bowl for some other reason, always change the seal. In this case, the old dictum of "if it's not broke, don't fix it" is actually the best advice.

any time that the toilet is not securely fastened to the floor, or end of the sewer pipe, any time the bolts or hardware have to be replaced the bowl moved or re-positioned, the wax should be replaced to get a proper seal. new rings are not expensive, nor are they hard to replace, dont ask just do it

When water is leaking from the base of the toilet. If not then the wax ring is fine and doing it's job. Make sure the floor bolts are secure and snug, not tight, you could crack the porcelain base, then you have to get a new toilet.

It could be leaking and you might not even know it. For the ease of replacement and the cheap cost, usually under ten buck of supplies its worth doing to protect your *** ets! what is your actual problem?
