It depends on the plant. Each type of plant has a different foot candle, or lumen, requirement. Some are low light plants, some are medium, some are high. First, you need to know what type of plant you have. If you don't, you need to do some research to find that out. Well, since nobody else said it...
You can rule out growing anything but mushrooms in the dark.
Sunlight is best, but many plants grow well in offices with only florescent light.
