I have in the past used diluted washing up liquid to spray on my plants to kill aphids, if that is why you are asking and it will not kill your plants, as some one has said, would not have thought it was illegal, if you think it is use bio-degradable washing up liquid diluted..

Hi,
Illegal now is it to use washing up liquid.
What utter tosh - who told you that ?
It is splendid on rose bushes to get rid of greenfly.
Highly diluted fairy liquid is fine on green vegetables, to deter pests.
You wash your crockery & untensils in the stuff.
Fine on house plants, and indeeds puts a sheen on the dusty leaves. They love it.
Go for it ! It works.
Illegal my bottom. I can just imagine a policeman at the door saying - !It has been reported that you have a small stash of fairy liquid in your greenhouse !
What next ?
All the best to the vegetation.
Bob.

I don't know why it should be illegal but, if you do it, then make sure it is very very diluted. I mixed about 1:10 liquid to water and sprayed some houseplants and nearly killed them. I would make a much weaker mixture than that, but I'm told it does work!

actually many indoor landscape companies do spray diluted dish washing soap on the tropical plants in malls and large office buildings it is used to clean the dust off of the larger trees it also makes them shine when it dries a soap with lemon in it is the most widely used the plants should be rinsed with fresh water after they have been sprayed
it also used to clean insects off the plants ie; scale ,mealy bugs, spider egg sacks etc

It is not illigal but if you use normal washing up liquid it will kill your plants. You need to use a natural soap that will not harm your plants. I am not sure what it is called in english but it is a green type of soap made of natural stuff called green soap in Norwegian

Why would you want to? Water and a bit of fertilizer solution once in a while should do it. A damp cloth is enough to wipe leaves if they're dusty. Washing up liquid won't help at all. Save your money.

If ur talking about live plants it will kill them. If ur talking about silk plants u can but u need to rinse well. I wouldn't recommend it either too much work. There is cleaning spray for silk plants to get rid of the dust. I found that a clean, small soft cloth and Pledge in the white can for dust/cleaning does a really good job cleaning silk plants and my silk trees in my home. Once I get them clean it's just a matter of spraying pledge to eat the dust and prove a nice shine to the silk leaves and branches.
I've just started putting live plants back in my home to improve air qualitly.

No, it isn't illegal.
Many people do it to kill bugs on their plants.
Use five or six drops in a cup of water and stir well before you spray it on.
