It depends on how old the house is, how well it is insulated, how new your furnace is and where you live. We have a deep well so no water bill. We have a new furnace and a have a well-built and insulated home. Our Consumer's Energy budget amount for both gas and electricity was just lowered to $127 a month. It was $142 but we got so far ahead with the warmer weather that they changed it. Hope this helps and thanks for staying in our beautiful state! :o)

Do you realize all the variables that go into something like this. How many people will live there? What temperature do you want to keep the house at? How many rooms? Are you on the city or municipal's sewer system? What kind of insulation is in the house? What windows? What kind of heating system do you have, gas or electric? Most people would have gotten an idea of utility costs for the home from the previous owner before you bought the house.
My guess for your utility bills would be water/sewer at around $30 to $50 per month. Electric/heat at $300-$400 in the winter months and $150-200 in the summer

I live in northwest Indiana, near Chicago. Here you can call the electric company and give them the address of the place you bought and they will tell you the amount of the most recent bills and also give you an average monthly cost (by tracing back a year) if you chose to go on the budget plan. The budget plan is where they take the total over a year and come up with an average for you to pay per month, of course this is based on the previous owner's usage. But you aren't obligated to stay on it if you decide not to. I pay between $100 and $150 a month for gas and electric. The latter amount during winter.
