I have an antique post box that I would like to use for storage, unfortunately even the smallest bin boxes (inventory boxes used for small items like screws and nails) are too big. I thought perhaps I could make my own but I'm unsure what material to use for the frame. Balsa, foamboard, cardboard, something else? And how to cover it? Decoupage, stapled material or paper, paint etc.? Thanks.

We need to change a fluorescent bulb which has two tubes but only one socket. It fits into a standard bulb socket so it is not to be confused with the standard long cylindrical fluorescent lamp. No matter how I try to remove the bulb (by twisting), it does not want to budge.

The home is 1.5 stories and after installing a gutter along the east side of the house, due to a mold problem, the east side of the home has dropped and the interior floors are dramatically unlevel. A stone wall in the crawl space is the main support and the home appears to be sagging at all outside points. I have considered slowly jacking up the outside of the home, however I am concerned about damaging the exterior brickwork in the process and need some guidance in where to set the jacks and how to keep them from sinking into the soil. I know that the home has never had gutters, due to some original trim work on the eaves. The house is located in a semi arid climate in Colorado and faces south.

I just bought a two story, 1700 sq ft home approx 22 y/o house. I have total of 19 vents/ducts in the house. But I have a problem with the two of them. One vent/duct on the second floor is not blowing any air al all. And the other vent/duct same on the second floor, blows cold air first in about couple minutes then it'll start blowing hot air. For me, it is not normal even though it is still blowing air. What could be the problem? How much will it cost for these 2 ducts to be fix? And I also would like to mention that all the vents/ducts on the first floor are not blowing enough air. Will it help to have a professional to clean the air ducts? Will it improve the air flow? Thanks experts.

Is it TOTALLY safe to turn off the valve and cap the gas line where there was once a gas dryer? Or is there a more permanent way to get rid of this gas line?

I have snaked it and ran water down the drain it stills backs up. I tried everything. The weird thing is that I can remove the hose from washer and run it directly down the drain and it doesn't back up. But the minute I run a load of clothes it will back up and I have to stop the washer and then restart it to avoid overflow. My house is 28 years old. We are also in a community and two houses share one septic tank. I pay a fee for upkeep.

I know that newspapers can work but I've been using windex and paper towels and the paper towels seem to leave smudges. Simple question but nobody said that all questions have to be life changing events. Thanks for any help you might have.

I have a large turquiose enamel parlor stove for sell. This stove would be perfect in a ski resort lodge or bed and breakfast because it is so large. It is a Magnificent Windsor made by Lakeside Foundry Co. in Chicage. Also I have a full size green and cream enameled cook stove by Kalamazoo, Michigan. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I am under 18 and my parents are on vacation in another country. I accidently locked myself out of the house and had no other options but to break into the basement window. I actually had to smash it open and squease through. Now I am stuck with a smashed open window and need someone to come fix it before the week is over because I cannot tell my parents. How much does a window replacement cost? It's a fairly small window but still needs total replacement. I'm freaking out and I don't know if I did the right thing.

This smoke alam is also active with the house electricity,so it is working , but if a fire broke out and the electric would go off then with the battery being disengaged we wouldn't have any warning of a fire.

I am trying to replace my faucet, and there is one screw underneath the sink that just won't come unscrewed. We have tried WD-40, as well as having a couple of incredibly strong people try their hands at taking the screw out. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get it off?
