This smoke alam is also active with the house electricity,so it is working , but if a fire broke out and the electric would go off then with the battery being disengaged we wouldn't have any warning of a fire.

Are you sure the smoke alarm is powered from an electrical circuit? If so, test it with the battery removed. If it operates, run it without the battery. The chances of having a fire when the power is out are remote. The chances of a fire that kills power before the detector operates are also remote.

It really seems that you have a battery only detector, and the battery is weak.

try replacing the battery, if that doesn't work just spring for a new one. The few dollars it will cost is not worth losing your lives over.

Our makes a noise (ding) when the battery needs to be replaced. Have you tried that?

If the battery is good ,you have a bad sensor.It is more econimacal and safer to replace it rather than repair.

sounds like you need to replace the battery...ours "chirps" when it gets low and needs replacing...very annoying!
