Our window's gather a lotof condensation which drips down and causes the wooden window sills to be VERY moldy. I can use some wood cleaner to wipe the mold off but it's back in about 24 hours. Obviously it's not killing the mold. Not only is this gross but it can't be good for the air quality in our home. Please help?!

Prepare a mixture of water, bleach, and vinegar. The bleach kills the mold and the vinegar helps to prevent the mold from growing back. Do this everytime you clean or at least once a week and you should have no mold problems. Happy New Year.

A little bit of warm water and bleach will work to kill the mold, but the cause of your problem needs to be dealt with to stop it entirely. New windows may be necessary (get aluminum as the humidity won't hurt them), but you may also need to get a de-humidifier in your home or at least that room. After things are dried out, you should consider (if you're not replacing the windows) restaining and polyurethane the surface. Good Luck!

Try a solution of bleach. Use the wood cleaner first then wipe it down with the bleach water. Test it on a concealed spot to make sure it won't ruin the finish first. Otherwise you may have to strip the finish off and/or replace the wood if nothing else works.

First scrub with bleach and make sure all the mold is gone. Dry area thoroughly, then seal area with sealer or paint. Lastly caulk where the glass meets the wood. It won't be hard on the pocketbook and the air will be clean. Good Luck!

i agree with you. that is not good for your health. try using a bleach solution of i part bleach to 4 parts water. this should kill the mold on your window sills. you may have to use a dehumidifier in your home for the moisture. if that doesn't work, you may have to have a professional look at it. good luck.

You need to find the cause and eliminate it. Bleach kills mold but it will just come back unless you get to the reason for it.

Call an environmental safety supply company and ask for Shockwave or go to www.fiberlock.com and look at the mold remediation products. I know it works first hand. You just can't clean it, you have to kill it too!

Bleach will clean it but, you have other problems.
You have to get a dehumidifier to get rid of the moister and the windows most likely need to be replaced.
