I have snaked it and ran water down the drain it stills backs up. I tried everything. The weird thing is that I can remove the hose from washer and run it directly down the drain and it doesn't back up. But the minute I run a load of clothes it will back up and I have to stop the washer and then restart it to avoid overflow. My house is 28 years old. We are also in a community and two houses share one septic tank. I pay a fee for upkeep.

Can you elaborate on... "remove the hose from washer and run it directly down the drain..." How is this a test of your washer drain?? if your washer drain hose isn't connected to the washer.
It was a suggestion from a website to flush the drain pipe. I took the water supply line hose off the washer and placed in directly into the drain. It was suppose to unblock anything in the drain by pressure or something. It didn't work. Snaking it didn't work. It is last years model washer.
As for the pump response: I see the drain hose on the bottom of washer but does it twist off or what? I don't want to break it!

I think the septic system is failing. Make sure that it is taken care of, since your neighbor on the system cold flood you house or vice versa.
Get the tank pumped immediately.

go to your nearest Lowes or Home depot, and purchase a sump-pump that can pump up to about 10-15 feet. Cut the drain hose at the base of washer, and attach the pump at the base of the washer. Then attach a new hose to the sump-pump and run it to your homes drain. Now I am not sure how high your drain is, but if it is over I say 7 feet, you will need a better pump. I work in the appliance business, and I see this issue all the time. Whirlpool and other major brands do not want you to know that their washers cannot pump to the height they say. 8 feet is a long way for water to go straight up. Buy the pump and make sure you have clamps on every connection...Good Luck.

What I read from your info is that when the washer gets ready to drain out its soapy or rinse water the DRAIN hose (from the washer) seems to fill up the vertical (?) drain pipe faster than it can drain the water away. Right?

However, you've taken A water SUPPLY hose from the washer, stuffed it down the drain tubing and the drain tubing carries the water away fine, despite your turning on the water supply to nearly full blast.

If that is the case, then I'd say there's no problem with your washer water pump; it's working as good as your water supply plumbing. But see below abt what I wrote abt the drain pipe height.

So how long has this problem been going on?? Has the drain pipe been shortened in height at any time?

I think there's a MINIMUM HEIGHT (30 inches??)
FOR DRAIN PIPE SO there's water weight to effect an adequate siphoning action when your washing machine pump starts to empty your tub; that's where my thinking is; maybe you've shortened that height recently (?)

It sounds like the water pump on the washer is not working as when you take the hose off the washer it is gravity draining. The pump is probably full of lint and with most pumps there is an easy clean out on the bottom of the water pump.If you are mechanically inclined there will be some disassembling you'll have to do to get to the pump, clean out the lint and you should be on your way .

Once I helped a friend with thier washer, it too wouldn't drain. I took it appart and found the pump on the inside to be clogged with pieces of hand towels and other pieces of rag type clothing. Once I got these pieces out of the pump, the water flowed freely. There's a small turbine in the water pump that was clogged. If you have clothing with holes in them or jeans with ragged bottoms and kitchen towels with the frenge ends, you might want to think about a clogged water pump in your machine.
