When people make a bed, then will fold the sheet down over the blanket. Why? Is there a purpose or is it just for looks? Someone told me it was because "breath stains the sheets". I dont understand how that is posibile. Any info would be great.

We just started redoing our floors that were covered with lanolimen, that was 100 years old. It left a dark backing film on the hardwood we would like to save. This is coming off really slow with a belt sander (about 3' square an hour). Is there any product out there that will help take this off? I tried zip strip and it doesn't touch it. DEAN

I went to Home Depot and there were so many different types and prices -- I'm just confused. I don't know what to look for. We have a 5 year-old daughter and 6 year-old daughter and 3 cats that stay indoors.

I use to can all the time with my mother so I know how to do it, but she used caps and rings to seal the top of the jars. I am looking for a way to can without having to buy new items (caps). I have seen the thing about wire-clamp jars and rubber rings. Do they still sale these? Does it seem to be good as in the products shelf life? Is there another way to can with all reusable items? Anyone know of detailed canning style before Mason created his jars in the mid 1800's? Helpful sites would also be great. Thanks in advance. :)

I have hot water in one bathroom and not the rest of the house. When I turn on the hot water in the kitchen I have full pressure but the water never heats up. In the second bathroom, I have no water pressure in the sink (hot or cold) but full pressure in the shower (but with no heat). I cannot figure it out.

I recently purchased an outhouse from a builder and was wondering how to go about a cement platform. I want to build the platform around 6 or so inches from each site of the house. Does anyone have ideas on how to build something to pour the concrete in to form the platform. I am thinking of using two by fours and a piece of plywood, would that be the right way to do it.

The furnace is making a constant crackling sound when it runs. On the electronic furnace filter box it says it will arc occasionally but if it arcs continuously then the filter needs cleaning. My dad used to clean it by soaking it in something but he has passed away so now I don't know what to do about it or what chemical if any to use. Please help.
