I recently purchased an outhouse from a builder and was wondering how to go about a cement platform. I want to build the platform around 6 or so inches from each site of the house. Does anyone have ideas on how to build something to pour the concrete in to form the platform. I am thinking of using two by fours and a piece of plywood, would that be the right way to do it.

no right or wroung way, but there allways a but ,
i lay down some 2x6 ,nailed together with concrete nails, mean you can re use the wood ok ,,your goign to need a helper also , and hammer to bang i nthe support post ,maybe from 1x2s,these support the mix while it going off, it take about 24hours two 48 hours to go off,but you can walk in about 24hours with otu a problem ,take your support off after 24 very gently ok , then pack it with sand ,a little water in you sand helps it lay down better ,then pack the sand with a 2x6 board to flatten it , pour the concrete , one more thing you will needa 2x4 to tamp the mix this make it flat ,good luck, also 2x6 measure 1.5inchs,and 5.5 inch about what you need

Am I missing something here? Don't you want a hole somewhere around the middle of the floor? And don't you want to dig a hole first? Or by "outhouse" do you mean a shed? If it's a shed, why not build a wooden platform. In fact, you could use a wooden platform for either a shed or a genuine outhouse. Use larch wood as it is resistant to moisture. Good luck!

I dont kinow where you live but in most all cities 'outhouses' are illegal. Most all of us have running water, flush toilets that drain either into a septic system or sanitary sewers. If your neighbors find an outhouse in your yard and then get to smell it daily they might just form a LYNCH MOB and hang you, just like the old western guys did.

Its easier to frame in 2X6s, and use stakes driven into the ground on the outside, you can take out dirt to level it up. Sure helps if its level and square. To square, just make the diagonal from one corner to the other equal to the opposite diagonal in length. Concrete is heavier than most people think, so bracing and staking is common practice. To hold it square, nail a piece of lumber(just some little strip) across the diagonal back a few inches from the corners. Good Luck.

I wonder whether I'm the only one thinking, "This fellow is building an outhouse. Is his computer a lap top?"
