I live in a ranch house and the return duct running down into my gas furnace has about a two inch gap between it and the garage ceiling. The exhaust duct also has a large gap between it and the ceiling. Is it safe to fill the gap (I want to use the heat radiating from the docts to keep the garage warm, as opposed to letting it rise into the attic and be lost), and if so, what's the best material to use? Thanks!

look out onto.
i am convinced that a lot of people start wearing glasses because they are used to having no horizon or far distances to look at.

for a garden stuck in a cramped urban setting wouldnt this be attractive if done well?

i am thinking of a product along similar lines but obviously of a hugely larger scale..to the photographic dinner table mats or coasters..only 20 foot long and 4 foot wide.

This is another part of an earlier question I asked. Apparently, the previous homeowner placed secondary supports underneath the house (crawlspace) on one side of my house. We recently had a plumber replace a sewer pipe under the house, and he may have knocked one of the supports loose. We had a Christmas party at my house this week, and ever since then, I've noticed a few cracks in the walls.

I got under the house and put the support back into place. Would this be the cause of the cracks? I'm now monitoring the cracks. I mean, literally, they formed almost overnight.

me & the missus always argue about it being called either a quilt as in continental quilt, or a duvet.
I argue that the duvet is the american term and quilt is the european term. what do you think?

I've bought a new celing light. Before I just had a light bulb hanging from the ceiling. In the celing, I have 3 earth wires, 2 Neutral (black) wires and 4 Live wires (Red). In the light fitting I have an earth, a blue (neutral) and a brown (live). I know that both the black wires should be connected to the blue. but should all 3 earth from the celingi be connected to the earth in the light fitting and should a 4 live from the celing be connected to the live in the light fitting. There is a fouth connection block provided should I need to make a loop connection. Is that what I need to do? If so how?

I know that you're all going to tell me to get an electrician, but I have put lights up in the past with no problems so do have some idea of what I'm doing!! (honest!) Would be grateful for any help!

My husband let me borrow his Warrick Dunn jersey and my niece and I were jacking around and I got a chocolate stain on it. It's very light after washing it, but it's still there...Can someone help me figure out how to get this stain out? He's likely to be really mad if he finds out, considering it's one of the more expensive jerseys...I tried NFL.com but they didn't have anything...THANKS!!! =)

I'm new to Canada and the various paints etc....there are more finishes here than in UK; I don't want the mess or smell of oil-based paint, as these are interior doors. Where do I start - what sort of primer, then top coat? I don't want a shiny, glossy finish.

What is the cheaper option? Leaving the heating on all day and night so that house does not cool down or to switch it off at night and during daytime when nobody is home?

i have 5*3 conservatory and there is a radiator on the wall (gas central heating)
I have heard that using this in a cold conservatory will 'drain' the heat from the other radiators and force the boiler to work harder.
Is this the most efficient way to heat conservatory or is it better/cheaper to use electric fan heaters or electric 'oil-filled' radiators.
Thanks for help!!
