My parents gave me a new wood dining set, to replace the card table I was using for a dining room table. It would be very nice, if it weren't such a light stain! My home is black and red colors, so I would prefer a dark stain, or if it were painted black. Can I just paint over it, without doing any prep, or is there an EASY way I can darken the wood? If I did just paint over the whole thing, how long would the paint last?

I've been shovelling 2 foot snow for most of the day and was curious about something.

Why dont people use gas, kerosene, diesel, etc to burn some of the snow away on the walks? Especially when the area is all concrete an there is no fuel source to catch fire.

wired properly? Will the loads trip when you press the test button? They do and the reset button turns everything on. Could it still be miswired? Do I have to take it apart to check it?

In an act of clumsiness that I won't bore you with, I have managed to put a hole, roughly the size of the bottom of a Coke can in a door.

Are there any easy (for a plastering virgin) ways to fix this without having to go the expense of calling in a tradesperson?

Thanks guys

The new belt provided by Sears Parts Center is much skinnier and whines while it moves the drum. It does the job but it has a whine to it that my old one didnt. The old belt was getting worn after 18 years of operation. Was cracking and ready to break. Any suggestions? Can I find a belt that would work that would be the width of my old belt? Will the whining calm down after a while? I put some bees wax on it a little to calm the sound. Helps a little.

I think it is wrong to have to enter your credit card number first to find out how much an item on sale costs.
