Do tealights produce as much soot as a large candle?

No they dont. The soot is 9 times out of 10 caused by having too long of a wick. any candle to burn optimally should only have 1/4" exposed. Keep trimmin!

I've never had any problems with soot from a tealight and I burn a lot of them during the holidays.
