Eliminating the property is easy. Eliminating the mosquitos will be a losing battle in the long run. However, you can temporarily reduce numbers in an area by eliminating standing water, burning mosquito coils/candles, and running a propane-powered CO2 generator fan trap (these aren't cheap).

Mosquitoes are co-existence with nature. They live and survive all over. I don't know if you can really eliminate them to the last one. Considering your property is not the only wooded part in the area even if you clean them up from your property it's not a matter of time when they breed back.

It seems like a losing battle to me. You can try your local pest control center they might have better idea. Better yet plant the whole woodland with citronella, I was told this plant has natural mosquito repellant capability.

Good luck!!!!

Bats and purple martins are your best best.

I think you can buy "bat boxes".

Since you say you're on a river property, the purple martin box would probably work really well BUT you must have it high in the air and you must keep it cleaned regularly on they won't come around.

We didn't have an easy way to get to the box so we didn't have martins move in, just sparrows I think!!!

I know the bats sounds scary, but they really won't bother you. I remember sitting in a friends yard and watching literally hundreds and hundreds of bats come out of the roof of their old farmhouse as we sat ouside on the deck. At first I was quite uneasy, but as they dropped out by the dozens, they simply flew into the night to eat!!

(I still wouldn't want bats hanging over my bedroom ceiling though). I think bat boxes would be the best bet.

the best stuff is outlawed (for good reason, i suppose, it does kill many animals And mosquitoes) and that's what they used in building the panama canal.

but mosquito coils work hundreds of times better than candles because the light from the candles atracts them bugs.

plus there is stuff callled "deet" the active ingredaint in stuff (such as "off") and you can get 95-100% deet.

as far as keeping them off your property in general, just keep in mind that the mosquitoes can only breed in still water, so if there are any ponds or ect then eliminating (if possible) them solves a lot of prolems.

The cheapest manner to eliminate mosquitoes without the use of commercial products is planting ornamental plants with smooth leaves and a tree which leaves could be burned producing smoke to kill the those insects. I'll ask acquaintance again the names of these plants as I do not expect this question to appear.

Bats can eat thousands of mosquitoes a night. Bat boxes are easy to build and one will house many at once.

Buy a bunch of tad poles( baby frogs). Eventually if there is enough of them around they will kill all the moisquitos off. There are also different things you can hang up that will attract mosquitos. Then it will kill them or either attach something to them so that when they are in contact of other insects like themselves or other anoying insects, it will kill them as well.

Dig a series of trenches and drain the area. Once the water is in the trenches you can always use chemicals to destroy the skeeters. Do it now whule the weather is cold and they wont be so bad in the spring.

I think the best way to get rid of mesquites are to buy those little wooden sticks with a little pot on top of it, you light the wick and it releases a gas that keeps the bugs away.
