By the way, I'm not advocating leaving the lint for another. I always clear the trap too.

Well this is something that irks me that someone even has to ask this question. I live in an apt building we have 2 washers and 2 dryers for 12 units. the lint trap is in plain view when you open up the dryer door. Now tell me this.... In my case when i go to put my clean clothes in a dryer should I have to take the lint from the lint trap that someone before me left. That lint is from their clothes so why should I have to touch their clothes lint and why should they touch mine. If you used the dryer you clean the trap that is just common courtesy. I am sorry you hit a nerve cause that is such a simple job that it seems if someone has to ask that then this world is full of people who isn't taught to be courteous

I try to clean it but sometimes I forget because I am the type to try to pull everything out of the dryer in one big heaping arm full and on occasion I have forgotten to clean the trap. It isn't done on purpose, but I like it to be clean the next time I use it so I think anyone should out of courtesy, do the right thing. The lint is clean so it isn't THAT big of a deal if someone before me forgot to take care of it. I don't get upset over minor things like that.

Dryer Lint Do-Nots: Yep, do nots, no longer donuts. i've got seen some particularly stupid techniques for using dryer lint. All kidding aside, dryer lint is rather flammable. It catches hearth very actual and burns o.k. -- so do no longer use dryer lint to stuff toys or crafts, puff out appliques, or make pillows. this is mushy and fluffy, and compacts nicely, yet dryer lint isn't a substance which you quite want surrounding you in a duvet or on a settee, nor do you like your grandkids hugging a teddy undergo crammed with between the international's terrific hearth starters.

Clean it out. Did you know that a dirty lint trap could cause a fire. You don't want a fire in that dryer... do you? You might as well clean it because the next person might not, and then eventually there could be a problem!

after every use. and home owners, if you use dryer sheets, wash the lint filter every three months. the filter is NOT catching all of the lint if it is coated with fabric softener. this is a fire hazard as the lint won't all blow out the hose. have a safe and happy new year!

I always clean it, because I HATE when the person before doesn't and I'm stuck cleaning out their nasty lint, so as a common courtesy I chose to clean it.

Apparently i'm the only one in this household that knows how to operate the dryer so to answer your question, i leave it for myself. i usually clear it when i put a load in.
