The project I'm working on requires a fairly complicated cut with a 1/4 dado router bit into white pine. Although the cut can be done on a router table, it would be a much easier setup to build a jig on the table of my drill press. That way, I would be able to see where the bit is going at all times and use the press to plunge the bit. The problem is that the top speed of the drill press is 3500 rpm, and the router bit was designed to run around 10,000 rpm.

First off. Is this safe?
Will the bit cut cleanly, or just tear the wood up?
Could I damage the bit doing this?

Why is it when you have a string of lights, the last portion of lights always goes out. It's not the fuses, their ok. None are burned out and they all seem connected.

I dont know if its a combi or how to add water to the system is the loop line at the cylinder or is it at the boiler outside, I bleed the system from the oil line and there is a screw valve beside it on the manual it says this is a pressure valve at the min it is fully closed, there is a small steel box beside the burner which I take is to be the pump It has 3 positions I have turned fully to the right there is also a screw valve on the oil line which I have fully screwed down if you twisted it the other way the screw will come off in your hand this line runes into what looks like a see through filter with oil in it. I got a bleed key and bleed the rad's upstairs but I have not pressure in the gauge beside the cylinder I also opened the air valve on the top pipe which goes into the cylinder. Is my pump not on??? How all this from just running out of oil.??? By the way thanks for all the help so far.

We just moved and have iron water. How can I get my white clothes clean? I wash in hot water using bleach as well as liquid Tide. This used to work, until we moved. Can not afford a water softener at this time.

I'm planning on building a wall in my basement to close in an area. I need to fasten the 2x4 to the ground, and I've been told (via searching on the internet) to use a powder actuated drill. What other solution are there, if any? Also, same question fastening to basement wall; I'm leary of cracking the exterior wall by drilling into it.

Our tenant used spackling seerl weeks ago to fill some gouges they made in the linoleum. They spread the spackling over a 2 foot square area. I would like to remove the excess spackling from the linoleum surface. Is there anything that will dissolve spackling?

I see this glue a lot esp. when your credit card comes in the mail and it's stuck on to a piece of paper. The glue is strong but it also doesn't rip the paper when you peel it off. TIA!

In my bedroom I have an a/c unit on the wall. It's brown and sits about a foot from the ceiling. It sticks out about a foot and is about 2 feet wide. Did I mention it's brown?:( I rent so I cannot remove or paint it, or perm. cover it. I have to be able to use it in the summer because it's the only a/c I have in the entire apartment. My bedroom isn't really decorated yet, so I'm not too restricted on coloring. 2 walls are white (one of which being the a/c wall) and 2 are gry/wht paneling. I know, gross. My carpet is dusty med to dark blue. I have a dark wood bed and that's about it. I cannot paint the walls, but I could possibly put fabric up? So, what I need is some sort of really inexpensive way to cover this. I mean REALLY inexpensive way. Also, if you have any decor ideas for the rest of my room, I'm pretty desperate there, too.

I recently quit my job so I could go back to school. I have next to zero funds. I find myself feeling blah and having no energy at home. Actually, it doesn't even feel like home. I know that this is partly to due to asthetics. Due to that job, which consumed my life for 3 years, I never had time to decorate. I'm too...well, yucky feeling, to be creative anymore. I think I need some ideas to decorate, cheaply, so that my surroundings make me feel a little more ...at home. Then maybe the rest will come. Here's a bit of info about my apartment:

It's very small. small bathroom with no shelves and just a sink with nothing under it, toilet and bath/shower. Only a small mirrored medicine cabinet. White walls, gry/wht floor. Silver towel bars and faucets. Very very small. small bedroom, blue carpet gry/wht panneling on walls. livingroom kitchen only seperated by a low counter. same walls and floor in lroom as bdrm. ktchn & bthrm same floors. please help. pics? details?

I have a craftsman installing replacement gas pipe for a gas fireplace and also a gas firplace kit from Lowe's; we are basically replacing the gas fireplace. The house was built in 1958 and at some point had a gas fireplace but it has not been used in years. The chimney is intact and goes up to an opening. I had it inspected by a chimney sweep and he said does not meet code for wood burning as it is just a brick chimney, with no steel insert. I am wondering how do I know the exhaust from this new gas fireplace will all go up the chimney and none will go back into the house? How do I know it is safe. Could I have my gas company test it? Or is there another way to insure it is safe? Is this a valid concern?
