Sounds like the belt broke or came off. Check out repair. com

I had this same problem in the summer, 2 weeks before we moved my washer died on me, it would fill up, the timer was still working but it wouldn't agitate or spin out. When I talked to a repairman about it, actually I talked to a couple. I wanted a second opinion. I was told that it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new one of the same kind. I only had an apt size but I missed it all the same, especially with the really really bad timing of it going.

Feel free to ask a repairman/woman, there could be a less serious problem, but be ready for the possibility of only having the option of buying another.

Good luck.

If the machine runs but does not spin more than likely the belt has come off or broken. Call a repair man and ask how much is a house call and if he has to replace the belt how much would the total bill come to . then make up your mind, some repairs could be cheaper. Good luck & Merry Christmas all.

The transmission is shot, and you will need a repairman. In my experience, and my parents, it is actually going to be cheaper or the same cost to get a new machine, rather than pay a repairman. Best Buy might be the best place for you to start.

It sounds like it is really major and at times touching something you don't know much about can lead to other problems so just call the repairman. It is safer.

could be either brushes or belt depending on whether it goes round at all, some models will manage a wash cycle with the brushes hanging on the springs but stop when it comes to the spin cycle,my advice is get a repair man in if its the brushes as its not just a simple old ones out and new ones in,the armature needs to be checked and cleaned,if new brushes are placed on a dirty or worse still rough armature where brushes have been arking then it will shred them and cause early failure of the brushes or even worse the motor itself.

Check the easist first. The lid switch is activated by a tab on the lid. Make sure it's there. Next, depress the switch with a pencil. See if has a faint click. If it dosen't click, replace the switch.

If you provide more info, I can give you a better answer. Brand, age, what noises if any it is making, does it pump the water out, etc.
