I recently quit my job so I could go back to school. I have next to zero funds. I find myself feeling blah and having no energy at home. Actually, it doesn't even feel like home. I know that this is partly to due to asthetics. Due to that job, which consumed my life for 3 years, I never had time to decorate. I'm too...well, yucky feeling, to be creative anymore. I think I need some ideas to decorate, cheaply, so that my surroundings make me feel a little more ...at home. Then maybe the rest will come. Here's a bit of info about my apartment:

It's very small. small bathroom with no shelves and just a sink with nothing under it, toilet and bath/shower. Only a small mirrored medicine cabinet. White walls, gry/wht floor. Silver towel bars and faucets. Very very small. small bedroom, blue carpet gry/wht panneling on walls. livingroom kitchen only seperated by a low counter. same walls and floor in lroom as bdrm. ktchn & bthrm same floors. please help. pics? details?

Can you paint in there? Paint is relatively cheap and easy to do and color can brighten up the place a lot! Also small throw pillows add color (you can sew them out of old clothes that don't fit you any more?). curtains are easy to make too, and material doesn't have to cost a lot.
Also, hang up pictures of your loved ones - that always makes a place feel like home!
Good luck to you and SMILE! your place will feel like home in no time.

Two books that you should be able to pick up from www.amazon.com: "Affordable Splendor" by Diana Phipps and "Paint Magic" by Jacosta Innes. Truly inspirational for great decorating on the cheap!

Both books are availble used, quite cheap, so it's not a major investment, but they are certainly creative springboards.

log on to hgtv.com, lowes.com, house & garden.com or home depot.com. I'm using them, they all have virtual programs so you can try different colors & styles for each room. Very cool! And you can cheat a little by getting high priced paint samples from them & taking them to walmart to match. Works 4 me.
