This probably sounds like a silly question!

I've always washed all of my laundry in the coldcold water setting. When are you supposed to use the other two settings...cold and hot water?

My son's girlfriend loves the Fun Guy mushroom joke, so we are looking for a mushroom as a gift, maybe crystal or cut glass, ceramic, resin, maybe something with a guy's face on the mushroom. Help, as usual, appreciated.

I've had this area rug/carpet for a few years. It still looks great, but it has fold marks, and I always have to pull it to even it out, I believe it is caused by the coffee table. Is there a way to undo this?

I live in a house that my friends own. It is a three story victorian, I live on the second floor, they live on the first and someone else on the third flloor. The third floor tenant has garbage on the second floor landing ( there is a thin wall that seperates my living room from his landing). This garbage has been there for a few weeks at least and is smelling my entire apt up! It smells really gross in here. The landlords have repeatedly told him to get rid of it, as have I. Is there anything else we can do?? We are both at our wits end as to how to get him to take care of this!! If I called the Dept of Health would they come back on the landlords, even though garbage removla is not included in the rent?

I was told by a builder that it is cheaper to set your A/C a couple of degrees lower that normal (like if you normally set it at 75, set it at 73 or 74) Does this make sense, it does not to me..?? It is suppose to stop your unit from turning off and on as much. This is where the higher cost come from.........?????????????

My husband thinks this would be a good way to heat the house to a certain extent in the case of a power outage like we just had in western Washington. I think it's a bad idea, but what are the facts? Hubbie says it'd be like running a gas stove, but I'd be worried about CO2 poisoning. So what are the dangers, other than the obvious fire hazzard?

My husband insists we throw away all anti-bacterial handwash as he has read of all the evil chemicals in them. I'm all for being natural but am concerned at his new choice for he family as we have a young toddler still in nappies. Does Dove actually kill bacteria? I get the feeling it is more for dirt and grime than actually bacteria.

Alright, this is creeping me out a bit.

Okay, my grandmothers house water was turned off a while ago. And, to ensure that no water mane would break, we turned on all the faucets and let them run out. We left them on, as to drain all the pipes, turned off the actual water valve, and then left it. Okay, so, phase into a few weeks later. We go back, and the water isn't running. Then, we go downstairs, and all of a sudden..it starts running again. A STEADY stream, none the less, even though it has been running for WEEKS. So, we go back upstairs, and turn off all the faucets, then turn them back on, and it's running again. We wait again until all are drained, made sure the water valve was turned off [no movement in the water breaker], and left. Now, three weeks later, a PIPE has exploded. And now the whole house is flooded. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, if we drained all the faucets and the actaul water people turned off the water and NO water is going to the house? please and thanks, lovelies.

We're looking to update our home electrical system. With the exception of the new kitchen added about ten years ago, the rest of the house has older, two prong outlets. We want to change these out for three prong, grounded outlets for obvious safety reasons. We were told if we didn't have a ground wire behind the older outlets, we could replace the outlets with GFCI outlets without having to connect a ground wire. This doesn't sound safe. We have given some thought to simply having the rest of the house rewired, but that could get expensive. Any thoughts?

How long can these last without leaking? Do they have a limited lifespan? Mine is 15-20 years old I am guessing. I don't see any signs of any leaks, but I'm just wondering if there is something I can do to make this more leakproof as it gets older. I know that the tile and grout floor of the tile is NOT waterproof, which is why there is the pan underneath. Is there a sealant or something I can apply to the tile that would better waterproof or prevent water from seeping to the pan?

Is it a job for a plumber. I've ruined mine with bleach, especially the trim around the plug hole. Does anyone know how easy it is to fix?
