I would really like to burn candles in the house, but have to be careful due to the soot that is created by some of them. (Asthma). Are soy candles good alternatives? Looking for something that will burn clean and still have a nice scent. Thanks for the help!

Our dishwasher is five years old and it keeps leaking. It leaks like nothing's doing, and I'm getting annoyed! Every time we try and do a load of dishes we have to put rags under it. That may be beacsue we have 7-8 people in the house at all times and we have to fill it up pretty tightly, but why does it keep leaking?

(It is a maytag.)

I'm living in a rental house with a lot of different ceiling fixtures and a lot of different size light bulbs that I need to replace-- it's getting dark in here! Some are chandeliers and ceiling fans with small candle-like bulbs. I also have light fixtures with two traditional shaped light bulbs in them.

How do I *KNOW FOR SURE* what "size" bulbs to use in each fixture-- that is, what wattage? Like 40 or 60W candle bulbs or 60, 75, or 100W traditional bulbs? I want the most, brightest light possible (for good Christmas photos!), perhaps even if it costs more-- but I want it to be safe and fire-resistant.

Also, the new fancy energy efficient and enviromentally correct bulbs aren't available for these little ceiling fan and chandelier candle-flame bulbs, right???

Thank you in advance!!! :) And I would appreciate any more suggestions in this area.

Southern Ohioans:

Does anyone know of a place I can take glass to be recycled? I have places for paper, steel, aluminum, plastic, etc... but the place I used to take glass no longer accepts it. I've tried several local places but no place will take glass. I'm willing to drive a fair distance to recycle glass--I could save up my bottles for a month or so and take them in one trip.

Thanks in advance for any help!

We left the teapot on the burner long after the water was gone. Now there are white flakes on the bottom, we think they're boron from the local water.

It's been two weeks and I've been frequently asking questions on this, But new issues seem to be coming up. I think ants are coming through the vents on the ceiling, The ones that blow heat or cold air. I find them scaling the ceilings as if they've come from there. We're calling Terminex again but what can I do to kill the ones that are coming from the vents?! Is that even possible?

My husband and father installed an icemaker last week and it worked great until my husband turned it off by turning the water off to it. He then figured out that there is a handle in front of the ice maker that you can shut it off. Now that we want more ice he has turned back on the water and lowered the handle and it isn't working. Any ideas what it could be?

yesterday, our washer somehow over flowed, resulting in a very wet and smelly carpet. we put towels on it to mop up excess water, tried having a fan dry it out and even used a hair dryer!!
our landlady came over(we rent a condo) and all shes going to do is check to see about the warenty on our washer. i dont think she is going to take out the carpet, so what can we do to make it dry and not smell???
thanks

Our garage door spring broke. Is there any way we can get it open while we are waiting for the repair man? We have tried to open it manually, but it won't budge.
