My husband and father installed an icemaker last week and it worked great until my husband turned it off by turning the water off to it. He then figured out that there is a handle in front of the ice maker that you can shut it off. Now that we want more ice he has turned back on the water and lowered the handle and it isn't working. Any ideas what it could be?

Get a new husband and just buy ice!!

Teasing heh. Defrost the freezer to remove any water that turned to ice inside the small water line by improper shut off.

as an owner of a 600lb commercial flaker, the water when turned off triggers a sensor that will not allow the ice maker to work for fear that it will burn up without water present in the chambers.
you may have a freeze-up or the shut off is tweaked.

the usual valve used for an ice maker is a self peircing valve. they have a little tiny pin that presses into the water line. i bet a little peice of something (rust, lime, ect.) is stuck in that hole. close the valve and open it again and i bet it will work.

you need to also check the tubing, just to make sure it's not kinked.

good luck

If he forced it up too much he might have broken it. Read the Installation instructions again.
