I live in California and there are both state and federal tax credit programs to encourage use of solar power. When taking this into account and current PG&E rates how many years before the return on investment make this worthwhile?

My apartment building is heated by a boiler with baseboard heaters. With all the mild weather lately, it is too freakin' hot in my apartment. There is a tap like knob on the baseboard heater in my bedroom. If I turn that, will it reduce the heat?

Every time our furnace turns on, our vent makes popping noises the whole time it's running and it is SO annoying! Is there any way to get it to stop?

I am not Martha Stewart when it comes to cleaning, but I am far from a slob. I might leave a dish and a glass in the sink over night. I clean up the counters and stove top, leaving nothing out. Yet, every morning when I wake up my sink and kitchen counters are infested with little black ants. I drown them all and clean up the sink, counter, and stove, and with in a few short hours they start coming back. I keep at it a few times during the day just to try and keep them under control, at night when I am sleeping is obvisouly the worst time for them. How can I safely get rid of them, as I have young children and pets? Not to mention, I am on a strick budget, so it has to be affordable.

About once a week I clean my house for the most part. I love the way it looks but it doesn't last long. I am bad at "keeping it up" and my boyfriend is no better. We also have pets so I have a TON of hair in my house too to contend with. I get so overwhelmed that some days I just don't even bother with cleaning. How do you people motivate yourself to keep your houses so sparkly clean. I try and it's never enough. I hate cleaning so much that I might even hire a maid but before I do I'd like some input from people who keep their houses clean. How do you do it? I have to force myself to start cleaning. Once I'm cleaning it's not too bad but I get so sick of it that once the place is clean I can't be bothered for awhile and then it falls back into a disaster area again. Please help!
