My apartment building is heated by a boiler with baseboard heaters. With all the mild weather lately, it is too freakin' hot in my apartment. There is a tap like knob on the baseboard heater in my bedroom. If I turn that, will it reduce the heat?

That knob might control the flow to the heater, or it might be an air bleeder. If there are metal vanes on the heater, rotate them so they are closed up. If you restrict the airflow across the baseboard, they will put out less heat.

In most places in the US, by law renters must be able to control their heat...do you have a thermostat to do that with?

That's probably the right knob, but check with the super or building manager to be sure.

A lot of times, those are very corroded and hard to turn.

Good luck.
