Green. Either an olive shade or a soft avacado.
If that is too bold for you, try an almond or ivory.
I do however really suggest the green it's beautiful
in the kitchen

White
any other color than white will kill any chance of re-selling the house(or just bring down the value)
the only exception is a professional painting service
people always regret not painting a room white

i would paint the room a color that is reminiscent of ancient tuscany! buttercup yellow, or a soft beige would tie everything together without making your kitchen look like a theme.

I like the Earthy green idea, but here's another...the color of an adobe roof. I don't know what it's called though.

I would either go with a burgandy color or if your afraid of doing dark colors I would do a nice dark beige.

Ugh - I'd say that'll date really quickly. Go ahead if you're prepared to redecorate in a year's time too.
