A simple search will render loads of hits. Knowing the host plant will help narrow it down a lot, since the species tend to stick to one host type (monophaegous) and there are several thousand secies in several some 10 taxinomical families.

With plants it is easy, you know you are looking for a ash you can search Fraxinus and get good technical info without stuf on athe Ash family or cleaning the fireplace.

If you want a peach aphid, or corn aphid....
