When the tank is refilling and heating the water, there are thumps, bumps, pops and sorta sounds like a gurgle... reminds me of the sound of water about to boil on a stove. Does this mean it is going bad? I have released the pressure valve on top and the drain valve on the bottom..it hasn't changed the noises. I still have hot water.. but I'm not sure for how long.... it is a gas water heater. Any suggestions??/ or should I call the plumber??

I vistited a friend today only to find them rather distraught about a blocked toilet, infact my friend was trying to unblock it by prodding it with a clothes hanger !!? It turn out she had no other means of tackling the problem, it was a real mess full to rim (not just with water.....) she had got on some really long rubber gloves so I asked her why she didn't just reach in and try to pull out the blockage, basically she was too much of a wuss/too hungover from the party that caused the problem.......to attempt this, me being the helpful friend I am borrowed the gloves, I didnt think about checking the gloves, I put them on and put my hand into the brown water I pulled out the blockage (a full roll of paper rammed down there) then took off the glove and realised I might as well have done this bare handed ! When I examined the glove it only had a tiny hole in the palm I cannot believe how much sh*t leaked in. Has this happened to anyone else or was I really unlocky ?

Is there any way I can tape/glue it back to the plant and it will still survive? They are the only flowers on the orchid. At the moment it is sitting in water.

I'm a 20-year old college student, renting a room from a married couple. My room is pretty small (10' x 10') and I tend to be kind of a pack rat, lol. I desperately need more light in it! I can't do anything crazy like install track lighting...I was hoping for some creative lighting ideas? I have limited space and don't really want to put huge lamps everywhere. Any space-saving ideas?

The cabinets were made in the 1950's (I think) by Geneva.
The handle looks like it has a bin pull part and has a recessed backing.
The handle is silver and the backing is white.

Recently when we use our shower, there is a steady stream of water running from the faucet, even when the shower knob is turned on full blast. It doesn't seem to be affecting the water pressure of the shower, but we'd rather that all the water be going to the shower head. What's causing this, and how can we fix it?

My Christmas tree fell on me while I was moving around it. I noticed I had tree sap on my jacket after I had repositioned the tree. I have heard of using petroleum based solvents, but I am afraid that this may harm my jacket. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't really know what is wrong, but I get the feeling its one of those simple problems to fix.

This is my first few months living away from my parents so I don't know how to do anything yet really.

The oven has stopped working, and the switch (to turn the oven on) usually glows red when turned on does not glow anymore. Also the microwave oven doesn't work when plugged into an outlet near the oven.

Is there something I can do myself to solve this problem, or should I contact my landlord to get an electrician over to fix it?

i live in a house with a basement apartment. this old lady and her 20 something daughter lives there. the old lady is on disability and never goes anywhere. sometimes i smell rotten garbage coming up from the vents, she blasts music and bangs around all night. not to mention all the garbage and old matresses and couches she has scattered all over the lawn. filled all our parking spaces with old broken down cars, we are forced to park down the street. i could go on but i wouldnt have enough space. when we have tried to talk to her about it she tell us shes old and there is nothing she can do about it. I am so fed up. we are planning on buying this place in 6 months. i want her out before then. any ideas?

Obviously, it must be nonflammable and not damaging to my rubber seals. I was thinking about RV antifreeze.
