My washing machine was playing up, so I took off the back. Big bits of this concrete-like stuff was coming off, and I've just found a big curved piece which somehow has liberated itself from its original home.

What is it for? Will the washing machine work without it? Or is it time for a new machine?

My friend's daughter reached up underneath their fridge and got her hand stuck. Luckily after about 10 mins of slicking it up and pulling it came out with just some scraped knuckles, but now she's worried she'll do it again. Does anyone know of something she could buy to block her hand from going under there, but at the same time allow the heat to escape from the refridgerator?

I suggested just putting duct tape down there, but I'm thinking that would mess with the cooling down process. Ideas? Anyone?

I know they make a film for sealing windows for the winter that will keep out, or help, the cold winter weather. Anyone know of it and where to get it? Long ago I was introduced to it and they used a hair dryer to help seal it tight. Thanks.

Anybody know a good website where they have ideas on how to decorate a basket?

I'm going to fill it with some stuff and then give it to my sister as her Christmas present.

Is it possible to revive a dead ficus? It isn't rotted, simply dried out. I want to know if my efforts will be wasted or not, lol.

I tried charcoal , pure vanilla extract , white vinagar to get the horrific smell of moth balls from my attic when a rodent died and couldn't find it.
Our clothing is getting the stench now and I'm dreading to go to work smelling horrible.
Someone PLEASE help !
Need more ideas, can't take it anymore ! ! ! !
How long will the smell linger ?

I filled half a shoe box with charcoal and left it in the attic.Should I make more charcoal boxes in the attic ?

For my remodel, I need to move a gas furnace about 6 ft over. Also thinking of canning the electric water heater and going with a gas. Any idea on what the average cost of this job would be? I'd get some official quotes, but I'm still a few months out from the move and don't want to waste anyones time quite yet. Thanks so much.

I am currently running my furnace on a generator because of what is expected to be a PROLONGED power outage here in the Howling Godless Wilderness of Illinois. My generator is 1500W Run 1850W Surge, so I am cycling the furnace manually so that it is the only load on the generator when running. The Voltage at the Motor is 99 Volts, and the motor starts rather slowly and is running a BIT slower than off the mains, So, IS IT DAMAGING TO RUN a 1/3 Horsepower Split Phase Motor designed for 115V on 99V ??

I put in a new furnace two months ago (82%).
I live in a 1800 sf w/ 500sf basement split level house in zone 5, metro detroit.
My bill went down by 20% with the new furnace in october.
Today I had the crusty 35 year old aluminum windows replaced with vinyl....
what was your experience with energy savings with the new windows?
