first you have to dry the roses by hanging them upside down in a dry dark place for about a week. i have always just sprayed them with a clear spraypaint gloss.

There is no product that will make them last forever. I'm assuming you want them to last in their "life" form. What you could do is to get a flower press, and press them. There will be a slight change in the color. Once pressed, laminate them on to book marks(making sure the laminate is archival). You could also preserve them for an extended time by placing the heads in silica gel to dry them out. You'll then have to make wire stems to reassemble them. This also has a limited "life span". They will eventually deteriorate and shatter.

this really was helpful for me. for extra shine i put hairspray over it once they are dried

as a finish you can also use acrylic glaze. i think even walmart has it.
