My friend's daughter reached up underneath their fridge and got her hand stuck. Luckily after about 10 mins of slicking it up and pulling it came out with just some scraped knuckles, but now she's worried she'll do it again. Does anyone know of something she could buy to block her hand from going under there, but at the same time allow the heat to escape from the refridgerator?

I suggested just putting duct tape down there, but I'm thinking that would mess with the cooling down process. Ideas? Anyone?

Let's stick to the question please.
I don't need critiques on her parenting skills. Thanks

talk to someone at a home store, like Loews or Home Depot. there has got to be a solution, because I'm sure it's happened to someone else. make sure you know the model of the fridge, and the measurements of the space.

No suggestions for blocking the space. But you are right about the duct tape. You should remove it as the coils under do have to have air flow in order for the unit to function properly. While your're at it you should clean out the coils as best you can with a vacuum.

Call the maker of the fridge and order the part, you can go back up to ten years usually.

I am totally perplexed as to how these things happen and yet no one sees it till its too late...was your friend sleeping? Egads dont parents watch their children anymore? It had to take some time for this to happen...and if this happened how many other things could also occur? with the sink? microwave, toaster, toilet, etc etc etc, the problem lies not with BLOCKING the child but with parenting
