The wall paper is in very good condition, but it is old, and we removed it from our bedroom, and it was a horrible job. We would like like to know if it is ok to paint over it with a good oil based paint?

I have purchased many orchids plants and killed them. After more than 3 dozens or so (I lost count) in 5 years, I finally was able to get 2 of my orchids still alive, it's been more than 6 months. One is oncidium, the other is dendrobium. I've been placing them in the bathroom window above the shower after the blooms fell. The oncidium has spiked again (yipee). The dendrobium looks okay, but I cut off the flower stems after the blooms fell months ago. Is this okay? I'm also purchasing several other orchids (1 vanda, 1 phal, 1 cymbidium and 1 cattleya). Can any of them be planted outside? Also, any tips on how to cut off the stems after blooms for each species are appreciated. For fertilizing, I read that I should fertilize every 10 days to 2 weeks. How long do I have to do this and when? Is it all year long? Is the fertilizing method the same for all orchid species? When's blooming season for each species? What type of orchid media should I use? Thank you much for the tips.

They sit on my balcony and not only defecate everywhere, they make the loud courting noise that wakes me up every morning around 7am. Is there anything I can put out there that they are afraid of or hate the smell of? I wouldn't want to install some "no-landing" spikes, netting or such as the apt is a temporary spot for me and those things could be pricey. Thank you for any advice.

We live by a tree nursery with lots of open space. Every Fall when the weather gets cooler we set snap traps, baited with peanut butter, in our storage room to catch any mice which get into our house to escape the cold. We have sealed everything we can find and usually get a few mice per winter. This year, each morning when we check the traps, the PB is licked off and the trap is NOT sprung! I've read that shrews don't eat PB and voles are seemingly big enough (similar to a mouse) to spring the traps. Any other ideas?

I had a water leak which the AHS dudes came and fixed. They said that they wouldnt cover "fixing" the wet carpet and padding since that is not covered in their warranty.

It is saturday night and it looks like the earliest i can contact someone to come fix my carpet might be Monday -- i have fans running and have sucked out some of the water from the carpet. Is it ok to wait till Monday (in all about 48 hours) to get some professional help or do you suggest that I try to get someone in tomorrow (Sunday)?

The affected area is about 20 sq feet in the bathroom on the ground floor.

Thanks for your help!

I have read other suggestions about putting aspirin in the water - how much, and how often? Or adding sugar to the water. Again, how much and how often? Finally, I read that putting alcohol in the water helps by preventing the trunk from sealing off so it will keep absorbing water. But what KIND of alcohol? (I'm hoping plain old isopropyl, not premium scotch...) Thanks!
