I had a water leak which the AHS dudes came and fixed. They said that they wouldnt cover "fixing" the wet carpet and padding since that is not covered in their warranty.

It is saturday night and it looks like the earliest i can contact someone to come fix my carpet might be Monday -- i have fans running and have sucked out some of the water from the carpet. Is it ok to wait till Monday (in all about 48 hours) to get some professional help or do you suggest that I try to get someone in tomorrow (Sunday)?

The affected area is about 20 sq feet in the bathroom on the ground floor.

Thanks for your help!

Great idea to try salvaging it but it never works. I hate to be the bad guy, but you're in trouble.

You'll have mold and mildew under there forever. Peeling it back as Roy suggested is the best you can do, but 2 years from now, you'll be having health issues due to the mildew and mold.

Replace the carpet & pad. Hope your insurance can cover the problem but, in the long run, that doesn't matter - you MUST replace the carpet and pad.

In the bathroom it should fine. The only question i whether there is a wood floor or a tile floor under that carpet. If it is a wood floor, you should probably pull up that carpet ASAP, and replace it next week. If the wood starts warping, you are going to be looking at a lot of money. If the floor is tile, you will be fine.

you need to take the carpet up where its wet and roll back the pad so it can dry. just roll back the carpet then the pad. the people that you call are going to have to do the same thing Monday and its still going to be wet when they get there if you do not roll it back now

if the damage that is covered caused the other damage they have to cover it as for professional help I would go to the local grocery store and rent a carpet cleaner to suck up that water before it damages your floor boards or you get mold in your padding or carpet cause that smell is hard to get out

Carpet and padding are a lot less expensive to replace than an entire floor.

PULL IT UP!!!
