your better off buying glass/ceramic shovel drill bit at any Hardware Store, or for best results, buy a diamond tip Glass Holer, from your Local Glass Supply Store it comes in sizes from 1/8" - 4". Make sure though, before drilling any Glass, you must support the glass - bottle in your case, that it will never move while drilling, and put some rags tight inside the bottle to compensate for vibrations and additional support for the void space inside the bottle, and you must have a sprayer with water close at hand, youll need it to lubricate your drill bit, and cool the glass at the same time while drilling. and very important patience!!! it takes 10x longer to drill a glass than a piece of metal with the same thickness.

first start the original hole with the smallest drill bit, then proceed up with a size larger, always using the bit that is made specifically for ceramic tiles. Home depot and lowe's carry them. About $5 - $6 each. You may need four different sizes, drill a little at a time, the glass will heat up quickly (you don't want it to crack). We did manage to do this to a few bottles , we drilled holes around the base about two inches up, and burned an insence stick inside it upside down by hooking the end of the insence stick to a cork. Looks pretty cool when the smoke comes out the little holes, like a genie in a bottle. hope this helps.

A diamond bit is only half the answer. When you drill glass it gets very HOT. You must drill the glass in a water bath or have someone run water over the drill site while your drilling. But remember water and electricity for your drill don't mix so a water bath means just enough water to cover the the glass to be drilled. I put the glass to be drilled in a plastic dish with a sponge in the bottom and put enough water so when you press down on the drill the sponge holds the glass and the water just covers it. Practice a couple of times first.

If you have a bench press, (drill on a stand) use valve grinding paste. Take whatever you need to go through the glass, put it in the drill, put the paste on it and away you go. I've used this method for pipes into glass tanks and you get a perfect hole the exact size you need. Just keep applying the paste until your through.

No, you'll break it for sure. To do a good job you'll need a diamond tipped bit. You can get them in your hardware store or on EBay.

Use a little stone to put a hole in it. Put it inside, and shake it around until it breaks a hole through it. Why make hash smoking difficult?
