Mow the lawn instead of rake it?

My roommate took a shower and we can't get the hot water to turn off. I've already tried removing the handle and turning the part inside by itself. But this did not work, and even though everything is turning normally, the pressure does not change when I turn the handle in either direction. Thanks for your help.

The gas man red-tagged my hot water tank for several reasons. I'm replacing the tank but also need to change the vent from single wall to double wall (Type B Gas Vent). It goes through the block wall in basement and is very tight fit. Single wall is approx. 3" diameter and double wall is about 3.5". It needs to be double wall where it goes through the wall. How can I enlarge the 3" diameter hole to 3.5"? Can't possibly afford to hire someone. Can do water/gas hookups safely myself. Vent from exterior of block wall on up is double wall. Man said single wall vent wouldn't possibly get hot enough to ignite concrete(!) or have condensation problem if hole is TIGHT (it is, that's the problem) but his hands are tied b/c code states double wall vent _through_ the wall even if the wall isn't flammable. I'm at the "panic stage" since they won't approve the new tank I'm going to install w/o the vent fixed. Thanks in advance for help soonest!

that isn't cheesy or stupid. I bought some nice, normal striped knit stockings last year for my husband and I at Cost Plus World Market. This year we have a daughter and I need another one. Any ideas? I'd like to keep it under $20.00 - - online or in store.

The main drain has overflowed with sewage in my front garden 2x in the last 2 years. I have to deal with it, but if it's shared the water company can serve notices on other properties to tell them what not to put down the toilet!

The light bulbs in my house seem to burn out at an accelerated rate. Is this due to power surges coming into the house or some other problem such as a my internal wiring? Most importantly, what can I do to fix it?

If you don't recycle, how many uses can you come up with? It's aweful to see them stuck in the trees, and all along the highway. I use them outside my socks, in my shoes when I garden, my feet stay nice and dry!

I think I have become immune to it, cause I don't smell it but my parents and my sister say that it smells, and so does all of our stuff. They are worried about my child going to school smelling. Please help me figure out how to get rid of it. I also have new puppy, and now my carpet stinks like urine, I have tried everything to get rid of it and nothing seems to work, any ideas?

On May 10 I had what was supposed to be a brand new Whirlaway 984 garbage disposal installed by a professional plumber. It has a 10 year warranty. After 6 months a piece broke off and it doesn't work anymore. The piece is very rusty. Does new equipment like this rust that fast? My concern is this: Was an "old/used" garbage disposal installed and I paid for a new one? This would be consumer fraud, if that is the case. Or is it common for garbage disposal parts to rust that fast?

I've tried cleaning the entire house, but I can't tell where this smell is coming from. I washed the basement floors with bleach (this is where the litter box is, so I started there.) I washed all my other floors with floor cleaner. I've washed walls and sprayed all fabrics with Febreeze. Still, when you enter my house it smells like a litter box.

I need to take care of this TODAY because I'm having guests this evening.

I've been assigned to remodel an 800 sq ft apartment after a fire. The inside has been completely gutted. All the contents destroyed including appliances, cabinets, and drywall. The fire did not get through the drywall, so no wall studs or ceiling joists are damaged. We have already cleaned the apt, pulling all drywall, ceilings and walls, stripped cabinets, shower, doors, ect. The apt is now like new construction. What is a fair price to charge realtor for the demolition and cleanup, and for the complete remodeling of the interior. All material will be provided by realtor. Remodeling will include installing new drywall, tape and texture, shower enclosure, toilet, water heater, 3 windows, doors, flooring, cabinets, painting ,ect. I'm just looking for ballpark pricing, just something to start with. Thanks
