if it is a unit then u should only have to attach 1 white, 1 black and 1 ground; if u are putting 4 singles together then u have to attach all the whites, blacks and grounds.

You have a wire with one black one white and a ground. Put the white wire on one side of a plug and the black on the other side of the same plug. Now take a short piece of the same wire and connect the white to the white on the wired plug and the black to the black on the wired plug. Now using that small piece of wire wired to the first plug and wire it the same way as you did the first plug.

do you mean a 4 wire 220 outlet like for a stove
two hots go to the outside screws white usually to top ground is always marked so is neutral usually if your talking an actual 4 gang box then the best thing to do is tie four black pigtails to your hot and do the same with the neutral and ground

Use jumpers,(pieces of wire about 4 inches long) to connect all the plugs together,,,gold to gold....silver to silver and ground to ground.....this will tie all the plugs together.with the first plug connected to the lead wire

white wire goes to the3 silver screws. black wire goes to the brass colored screws and green goes to the green ground screw
