There's a giant spill of filtered diatomaceous earth on my lawn! It was intended for my pool, but someone foolishlessly left it on the lawn and it spilled. I dont want it to kill my lawn and I'm worried for my dog's safety because it's hazardous. Is there anything to neutralize its effects? What should I do?

ok smart people, how to question. you know those bottles you purchase for scenting a room? they use an alcohol base scented liquid, have a wick, a stone, you light it, then blow it out and the heat infuses the room with scent. i have a concentrated oil of my favorite scent but cannot use it in this type of lamp. i figure i could mix it with alcohol and use it . do you think it would work? would it be safe? what type of alcohol do i use. i don't think it's your run of the mill rubbing alcohol. i don't want to pull a richard pryour and go up in flames although...i smell really good. what say you braniacs?

The licensed roofer tore off half my roof before the rain set in. He tarped it well, but not well enough because at 4:00 AM, my pregnant wife and I awoke to puddles of streaming water coming in the closet ceiling. The house was built in 1964. I'm not sure if asbestos or lead paint is an issue. Now there is damage in master bedroom closet, bedroom, hallway, bathroom and downstairs living room. The big questions are: is mold and mildew a concern? Can he just paint over the water stains or should he replace all the drywall, texture and paint? Or should I call my home insurance and let them make sure it done correctly? The contractor says he'll fix it all, but where do I draw the line? Dry cleaning bills for my wife clothes that got soaked? Wet carpet? Soaked floorboards? Will water stains come back if they're just painted over? Help!!!!

My riadiator will not bleed. Air starts to come out when I turn the bleed key. But after a few seconds stops. No water comes out. I have checked the header tank and there is water in it.

This is my first winter in an old house with hot water heat. The heating unit does not look as old as the house, or as old as the newest addition (50+ yrs old), and the old radiators have been replaced with baseboard heaters. Unfortunately, the upstairs heaters are so much warmer than the downstairs heaters. Is there a valve to control the amount of heat to the different heaters like there are on hot air ducts? I also noticed that my thermostat has to be set about 4 degrees higher than the temperature I desire. I have limited knowledge of this kind of thing, but also have a limited income. Did I mention the basement floor is half dirt? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

We want to sell our 1906 house next year; and our looking for paint colors that most people will like or at least colors most people won't hate. We've already painted the living room sage green & kitchen and master bedroom pale yellow so don't want to use those colors again. What color do you think we should paint the master bathroom? We are planning on doing all the tiles and counters in white and white shades when we remodel so any paint color shouldn't clash. Thanks for your help!

i live in an aprtment block and when i am out i am sure an agent of the landlord (who is also a neighbour) uses a key to enter the property to check that the apartment is ok. Although this contravenes the tenancy agreement and is also illegal what can i do to prove, to some degree, that she has been in while i am not there.
